Learning requires a shift in Attitude, Skills and Knowledge (ASK). If the student doesn't have the right attitude, they will not learn much. Farallon in collaboration with Vergence Entertainment conducted a learning retention project at Puget Sound Energy (PSE). Ringorang is a game-based, learning solution. Game-based learning is now referred to as Gamification.
At PSE, we were tasked to make NERC CIP Compliance training fun and compelling. The results surprised all of our sponsors - Gamification learning retention results far exceed conventional learning methods.

What were the Gamification results at PSE using the Ringorang NERC CIP game?
- Ringorang® is a highly effective learning retention tool as measured by increase in participation over time, 43% lift in participation over three months.
- Not only did employee choose to participate more over time, their accuracy of choosing the correct answer rose by 53%.
- Using Teams increased the intensity of play as measured by the points earned for speed of choosing the correct answer.
- Completion of the prerequisite annual NERC CIP compliance training did not contribute to higher performance.
- 62% of the responding survey participants believe the Ringorang NERC CIP game enhanced their understanding of NERC CIP requirements; and
- 58% of the responding surveyed participants said the Ringorang NERC CIP game improved their general awareness of potential NERC CIP issues.
- Less self-reports of NERC CIP violations occurred during the quarters we hosted the Ringorang NERC CIP game.
